Since its launch in 2014, Neon Moon grew considerably popular for its shop in Yeonnam-dong. Pippy Longstocking and Wes Anderson films inspired the founder, LEE SOSO, who stocks the tiny space with retro trinkets from the United States and Japan.
Neon Moon also vends their own original apparel. Second label NEONMOONight, launched in 2016, offers playful retro inspired clothing for women. NEONDUST. , launched in 2018, is a gender inclusive brand with a more minimal approach, spearheaded by SOSO's partner JO YOONJOO.
Last month, following the theme of nostalgia, Neon Moon celebrated their four-year anniversary with an exhibition in the Ways of Seeing cafe in Hannam-dong. The exhibit told the story of Neon Moon’s evolution through the imagery of their past and present campaigns. Select memorabilia was also for sale, including posters, socks, pens and bags.
